Elections

The Town coordinates with El Paso County to conduct the local election. The next regular election for the Board of Trustees will be held in November 2024.

The Town of Palmer Lake will have the following seats open to candidates:

                One for Mayor – 2-year term

                Three for Trustees – 4-year term

If you are considering running, please contact the Town office to schedule a time to review a candidate packet. This is a very important role to consider. Along with time commitments and what can be expected, staff will review the required candidacy paperwork. There are specific times allowed by statute to circulate nomination papers. If you are interested, please do not wait to review the requirements to get your name on the ballot in November. Note the Election Packet in "Supporting Documents" below to reference.

NOVEMBER 8, 2022, GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS:

Congratulations to the following Town residents!

  • Mayor (2-year term):  Glant Havenar
  • Trustee (4-year term):  Kevin Dreher
  • Trustee (4-year term):  Shana Ball
  • Trustee (4-year term):  Dennis Stern

The new board members were administered the Oath of Office and took seats for the Town Board of Trustees on December 8, 2022.

Elections in Palmer Lake

Town elections are held in November of even numbered years and coordinated and administered by El Paso County. Coordinated elections include those for Board of Trustee members and possible ballot questions or issues. 

The Town Clerk is the designated election official for elections in the Town of Palmer Lake.  

Election Dates

Elections occur every two years for the Mayor (2-year term) and Board of Trustees (4-year terms) –

Trustee seats currently held by Sam Padgett, Jessica Farr, and (vacant) will be elected in November 2024.
The Mayor’s seat currently held by Glant Havenar will be elected in November 2024.
Trustee seats currently held by Kevin Dreher, Shana Ball and Dennis Stern will be elected in November 2026.

Voter Registration and Voting Information

Information about voter registration and voting can be found at www.GoVoteColorado.gov – Colorado allows you to register to vote through Election Day. The timeframe that you register may affect the method by which you can vote.

If you register to vote online at least 8 days before an election, a ballot will be MAILED.
After the 8th day before an election, you must visit a Voter Service and Polling Center or the El Paso County Elections office to register and receive a ballot in person.

If you register to vote through a voter registration drive, your application must be submitted no later than 22 days before the election
El Paso County maintains secure 24-hour ballot drop box locations – found on the El Paso County Elections site.
