Neighbors ~

Our Town Star is lit, a symbol of the spirit of the season, a shining light, and a beacon of hope to guide us home. There is nothing quite like our snow globe of a town in the midst of a December snowfall.

The Town of Palmer Lake has many family friendly events happening for the holiday season. We are bringing a small-town Christmas home for you and yours.

Santa’s mailbox has arrived with direct access to the North Pole! Please make sure to help our little ones add a return address so that Santa may answer their letters. Following is the mailbox traveling schedule: The week of December 3rd, Santa’s mailbox will be in front of Sasquatch and Yeti. The week of December 10th, Santa’s mailbox will be in front of the Rock House Ice Cream shop. The week of December 18th, Santa’s mailbox will be at O’Malley’s. Santa’s mailbox will also travel to all town holiday events. Please feel free to reach out to me or the town office if you need assistance locating the mailbox.

Some additional dates of events to add to your December family calendar include the following. On Saturday evening, December 2nd, we will light the Palmer Lake Christmas tree in the Village Green. This Spruce was planted earlier this year and is small but mighty.  We look forward to the tradition of watching our town tree grow alongside all the children of our community in the years to come. Wear your ugliest holiday sweater for the contest and meet at the Town Hall from 5-8 pm for fun and games. Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to the party so get ready for some great photo opportunities.

On Sunday, December 10th, our second annual hometown cookie exchange will be from 1-3 pm at Sundance Pit BBQ (former La Rosa building). Please bring a few dozen cookies to swap and share. After the cookie exchange, a Yin Yoga Christmas Practice will be held at Balanced Studio from 5-6 pm.

Attention Yule Loggers! The time-honored tradition of the Palmer Lake Yule Log Hunt will be held on Sunday, December 17th at 1 pm beginning at the Town Hall. The potluck supper will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 6 pm at the Town Hall. This year marks the 90th Anniversary of the Palmer Lake Yule Log Hunt. How cool is that?

On Sunday evening December 17th, the Parks Commission will judge the Christmas lights in the community. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Palmer Lake does lights right!

The Board of Trustees and town staff want to wish you and your families a very happy holiday season! We are all very blessed to call Palmer Lake home and look forward to a prosperous 2024. May you never be too old to search the skies on Christmas Eve.

A very Merry Christmas, much love and joy to you all.

Mayor Glant
