Overview

The Town of Palmer Lake has hired Community Matters Institute to draft a new Master Plan for the Town. The last Plan was completed in 1993 with two minor updates. The Master Plan is required by State Statute to guide development.

The Town has also appointed a seven-member Advisory Team of local citizens. Their role is to advise Community Matters on the concerns and desires of the citizens for the Town’s future.

What is currently going on?

  • The Advisors have an active community survey that can be filled out on-line. Please select the following link to complete the survey: https://bit.ly/3HLLllt.
  • Community Matters is preparing various maps so the residents and those that have a stake in the future of the community know more about land and services in the region. Maps that are being produced include:  zoning; existing land use; existing roads; water and sewer lines; parks, recreation and open space; a 3-Mile Planning Area boundary and 3-mile street plan and a map showing environmental constraints.
  • Community Matters is preparing a one-page two-sided Community Profile that will summarize key facts about Palmer Lake. This will prove useful for economic development initiatives and assist Town staff to apply for grants.
  • The consultant is conducting reconnaissance interviews with the Board of Trustees and Planning Commission members.
  • The Institute is collecting and analyzing data from the Town and El Paso County.

How can I share my ideas?

  • Fill out the community survey.
  • Send us your favorite photograph of Palmer Lake.  Please send photos to: elysem@communitymattersinstitute.org
  • The advisors will be helping us with community outreach efforts that will begin in early February. If you would like to be involved in a focus group meeting, or if you wish to hold a focus group meeting, please contact Barb directly: barbcole@communitymattersinstitute.org.

Stay tuned for more information and findings as we move through the plan-making process.
