PLPD Honor Guard

The mission of the Palmer Lake Police Honor Guard is to provide the fallen with the highest honors that they deserve and have earned from a life of service, and to honor the people of the community, state, and country we serve.

The primary duty of the Palmer Lake Police Department Honor Guard (HG) is to render final honors for fallen comrades. The HG remembers and renders honors to Department employees and provides comfort and support to survivors of those who have fallen. Other duties include representing the Department at special functions deemed appropriate by the Chief, Supervisor, or OIC.

The HG is a specially trained, uniquely decorated, and highly disciplined unit that represents the positive image of the Department. This requires specific physical ability and appearance standards. The HG must be ready and able to represent the Department by exhibiting the most polished appearance and performing with the finest discipline at a moment’s notice.

The PLPD shop is not used to generate funds for the PLPD or for the Town of Palmer Lake. The department does not receive any funds from sales or donations from the website. The shop is an entirely separate entity from the PLPD, ran by officers that are volunteering their time. Any funds generated or donated through the PLPD Shop directly fund the PLPD Honor Guard unit, which is a self-funded and officer-funded ancillary unit approved by PLPD Command Staff and staffed by PLPD officers wishing to serve.
